What you need
The 90-Minute Plan
Level ground, 50+ feet from water, away from dead trees. Avoid animal trails when possible.
Tent door away from wind. Sleeping pad under sleeping bag (insulates from cold ground).
Store in bear bag 100 feet away or bear canister. Prevents attracting wildlife to camp.
Cook downwind. Burn trash if permitted, pack out if not. Never leave scraps.
Pack out all garbage. Don't use soap directly in streams. Walk established trails.
Your comfort depends heavily on sleeping pad and bag quality; invest here first.
